Does anyone know of a pregnancy-safe, non-drowsy allergy medicine? My allergies don't keep me up at night, BUT if I have to get up for any reason (which, as you know, there are many reasons at this point), something 'shifts' in my sinuses, my nose starts running, throat starts itching, and I have a sneezing attack. After this happens, it takes a LOOOOONG time for me to fall back asleep, and most days, I just throw in the towel and get up for the day. Today, 6:15 a.m. I would love to take a Benadryl, but I'm too afraid that Henry will have a bad night or will wake up 20 minutes after I take it...then I'll definitely lose my Mother of the Year status. I haven't asked my doc yet (mostly bc his office is always closed when this happens...and I forget about it during the day), so I thought I'd check with all my mama friends. Let me know if anything has worked for y'all...
Speaking of my Mother of the Year status, here's a poll for the rest of you striving for the title. How many consecutive times have you played a movie for your tot so that you could get something done? Yesterday, The Polar Express started and finished four times in my house. Four. Of course, he watches it in spurts...intermittently terrorizing my Christmas trees, jumping on my bed, unrolling all of our toilet paper, or banging pots and pans together...but the point is, play was pushed four times. In one day. So beat that, suckas.
Rest assured, all of this movie-watching was not without good cause. We have very special company in our house this week, so I had to have everything ready for her arrival. She - our very special company - is easily the best hostess we've ever had the pleasure of staying with, and this is her very first time to come and stay a spell with us. Despite her fear of flying and the fact that she's never been away from her own children on Christmas, she gave this Christmas to us. And we could not feel more honored. So, who is she, you ask?
Well, Jared's Nana, of course!
We've got many days and nights together, and I plan to pick her sweet little hostess brain to pieces while she's here. Seriously, you have no idea what this woman can do with a home or in a kitchen...it's just uncanny. Mission #1 - score her recipe for Chicken 'n' Dumplings a.k.a. Perfection on Plate...

You may call me an Austin-hippie but I was all about the all-natural options when it came to pregnancy stuff. Actually local honey was and still is the secret that works miracles. It has to be LOCAL honey because there is something connected to the pollen the local bees stir up, eat, and then make their honey with. We find ours at the farmers market but some grocery stores have local honey too. You can then do toast with butter/honey or tea with honey or however else you like honey. I even dribbled it on baby carrots and microwaved for 4 minutes for soft yummy carrots. But we've seriously seen a shift in allergies around here. Hope you can find something that works for you.
Good luck and Merry Chirstmas! Love the festive wall paper.
Local honey is good, but if you want a DRUG - My doc says that a claritin is okay. I took them off and on during the first trimester (scary part). So double check with the doc, but mine and the military docs both said it is safe.
I did ask this summer, but here is proof from their website:
