Quickly. Here's what's been going on around our house the past few weeks...
Jameson is turning his sleep around, slowly but surely. We've gone from being awake all night and asleep all day...to being awake most of the night and asleep most of the day...and just this week, he's done a few nights of sleeping 5 hours, waking up only to eat, and back to sleep for 2.5 more. It's still not going great, but for every bad night it seems there are two good...and that's sooo much better than we were.
We've seen a bunch of smiles and heard the sound of his sweet voice this week. He is still sooooo laid back and snuggly, and he's happy just about all the time. From those who haven't seen him in a week or two, we also hear a lot about how chubbed up he's getting!! I love this about the six-week mark - personality emerging...chubs expanding. It's too soon to tell for sure, but it seems like we have another blue-eyed boy on our hands. H's were bright blue from the beginning (like mine), but J's have been more hazel (like Jared's)...until this week when they started looking dark blue all the time. I'll keep y'all posted on that. For future reference, blues are mommy's team...hazels are daddy's team. :) His skin is in the process of clearing up from a nasty bout with baby acne, but even still, you can see that he has a beautiful pink color to him. Recall, big brother had translucent pale skin (with eyelids so see-through that they looked purple for almost a year!), so it's neat to see a baby with a little bit of pigment in the Chesser house. His hair is still a dirty blonde color, and none of it has fallen out yet. We'll see how long it lasts. I, on the other hand, am losing handfuls again...but, alas, this post is not about me.
Speaking of "Daddy's Team," Jameson does look sooo much like Jared. It's hysterical, really. Eyes, face shape, nose, etc. etc. The other day, in fact, we were lounging in the living room after Henry had gone to bed. From where I was sitting with James, I could see up both his and Jared's noses...and guess what, they even have identically shaped nose-holes. I can't wait to see how this plays out. Henry is my 28-years-late twin, so it'll be fun if Jared has one of those too.
Henry. Awwww, Henry. Y'all, this kid continues to light up our world every minute of every day. To say that he is our pride and joy doesn't even begin to adequately put it into words. Little big man is speaking in complete sentences now (5-words strung together is pretty common), and the newfound communication he has with us is making everything so much more fun. We've even heard the elusive "yuv you" this month...little hold-out had me worried he might never say it! Right now, his favorite things to do are play with his daddy, uncles, or Paw Paw...outside. Always outside. That's not to say he's not still very much into his girl relatives...he just doesn't do the butt-wagging happy dance at the mere sight of any of us (that's not a joke...yes, I've got it on video). Also, he loves to Skype with his Nina (Jared's mom), who graciously humors his never-ending requests to "see cat!" and "sing songs." You may all recall that he used to wake up in the morning and from naps by yelling "Alllll aboard!" at the top of his lungs. Now, he says, "Daddyyyyyyyyyyy....BOUNCEHOUSE!" This is in reference to the bounce house that my grandmother gave him for Christmas this past year, which remains perpetually inflated in our backyard. Everytime we try to take it down and put it away, he 'gently' reminds us to "BLOW BOUNCEHOUSE BACK" "PUT BOUNCEHOUSE BACK IN YARD...IN BACKYARD".
In the past month or so, Jared taught him all of his colors, so now everything gets a color description. Literally, everything. The garbage truck is not just 'a big truck' anymore...it's 'big green truck that mush trash'. On that note, we've made friends with our garbagemen, and we meet them and their 'big green truck that mush trash' every Monday and Thursday at the curb. They all love Henry and love to tell him hello....he mostly just loves their truck, but whatev, that's our little secret.
Cute grandparent story. Today, Henry was eating his breakfast and he heard the baby fuss in the living room. So, he says to me in his concerned voice, "Mommy, baby cry...see baby??" I told him "not yet, Henry...we have to finish eating." He says, "Soon...see baby, soon??" I say, "Yep, we'll see him soon" He says, "Almost time? Almost time see baby??" "Yes, Hen, it's almost time." Him...in a very excited voice..."almost! almost! almost! almost!" (repeat ad nauseum...like, literally until he was standing over the baby).
Grandparents, you know why that story is super cool? Because before that moment, Henry had never said the words "soon" or "almost"...and then he goes and uses them today as if he's known them all along. Wow!
Henry continues to love his baby brother so much. I never expected it to go so well, but I am so thankful that it has. The only thing I have to deal with (for lack of better words) is Henry loving on him soft enough. He's a typical 21-month old, you know...he shows affection by jumping on top of things, riding things, spazzing out and falling into them, etc. etc. This does not bode well for 1-month old baby brothers. Hence the newest responsibility added to my ever-growing job description -- bodyguard. Oh, and he does call him his baby brother...it just sounds like this..."Bruh-yah...Hen's baby bruh-yah." More times than not though, he calls him "Baby Mames" - a nickname that we now ALL use that will assuredly stick for much longer than Mames will approve of. heehee...
I'll throw a few pictures up of Sir ChubbyCheeks and Sir DirtyShirt later on....you're gonna be amazed at how big they are. In fact, Jameson is into his 3-6 month clothes already and H got weighed at the doctor last week - 35.4 pounds, people. Holy biceps, can you believe that?!?! We're for sure gonna get the childhood obesity packet and lecture at the 2-year old appointment. Fail...sigh. For now, though, Mama Liz is going to try to steal some shut-eye. I'm guessing I have about 3 minutes before someone calls/cries for me again.
