The Jean Jones Walk/Run 2009

We did it. Well, more appropriately, I did it. Airplane to Jackson, visited with some wonderful friends and enjoyed long stay-up-late-because-it's-totally-worth-it conversation (big thank you to the Berthelot fam), car ride to Oxford, participated in the run/walk, saw some old and wonderful friends, car ride back to Jackson, airplane back to Houston, and we're back home in one piece no worse for the wear. Wow, what an awesome adventure Henry and I had this past weekend!!

The first thing we did in Oxford (after eating at Newk's, of course) was hit the Square for a few photos. Here is the Henry Chesser and William Faulkner show...he was a little scared of Mr. Bill at first, but a glittery, maraca-music-making microphone eased his nerves nicely...Here's the little lulu next to Oxford's famous phone booth. I would have put him inside of it for the pics, but I (and any Ole Miss grads reading this) know how disgustingly unsanitary that would have been. Anyway, this photo leads me to the very disturbing thought that if my son ends up a Rebel, this is likely to be the first of many times he won't be able to put one foot in front of the other on a Square sidewalk. Hotty Toddy. Here's Henry right before the run/walk. He was SOOOO amped, because everywhere around him were hot co-eds and puppy dogs. Yes, little Henry is quite a sucker for cute brunettes and 4-legged friends...Here he is with his #1 girl...I put him into the flowerbed outside of the student union in hopes of catching an adorable picture with the pretty flowers in the background. Instead, the flowers look sparse, Ole Miss' lovely pine-needle landscaping is evident, and the drool flowed freely and blew in the wind. :)One more photo with mom before we blow this joint. Here we are at the Walk of Champions archway...My little champion. My friends Taylor and J.D. were also around to make our trip complete. We met at Handy Andy's...affectionately referred to by really cool people as Handrew Andrew's...for delicious burgers and reminiscing. Love these folks...Henry with yet another of his many ladyfriends. This is Miss Emory, and she was the light of his life for every moment he had with her. Here she is showing him how to build a schoolbus out of Lego blocks. He is about to show her how to eat a schoolbus made of Lego blocks... Uh oh, they busted the photographer....Emory says, "No pictures please...can't you see we're just playing...we're not even dressed up or anything."Ahhh, and saving the best for last. Here are my friends, Marc and Tricia, with Henry. These two are c-c-c-rrrrrazzzzzy in love and recently became ENGAGED to be married! Congratulations, again, you crazy kids. Oh, and a big thank you to Marcus for allowing the Chessers to crash his pad for the weekend...and bathe in his kitchen sink and all (well, one of us, anyway).
What a perfect getaway we had to glorious Oxford, Mississippi...old times there are surely not forgotten.
